The Top 6 Bond Movies That Should Be Represented in 007 Legends

Early this morning Activision announced 007 Legends — an original game that will tie together six classic Bond movies. Being the James Bond fan that I am, I thought it would be fun to speculate which of the 23 Eon Productions Bond movies would make the best interwoven story to be featured in 007 Legends.

Since this is an original story tying into this year’s 007 movie Skyfall, it’s more than likely Daniel Craig’s James Bond will be the suave spy throughout 007 Legends; replacing past legends Sean Connery, George Lazenby, Roger Moore, Timothy Dalton, and Pierce Brosnan, in their respective stories. That decision should reinvigorate these familiar stories, making them feel brand new yet still pulling on the heart strings of Bond fans by revisiting the best villains, locales, and Bond girls from the series. It would be awesome, however, if the actors of James Bond past were playable unlocks. You should get on that Activision. No need to pay me, a simple “thank you” in the credits will do.

Since there are six different Bond actors throughout the Eon Productions 007 films, it seems only natural that one movie from each would be featured in 007 Legends. So without further ado, here are the top 6 007 movies we would like to see in 007 Legends.

Goldfinger

Every super-villain needs money to conquer the world, so the gold smuggling plot of Goldfinger is the best way to begin the 007 Legends storyline. Goldfinger is also the first Bond film with extensive use of technology and gadgets. You can’t have a good game without cool gadgets. But what use are those gadgets if you have no one to use them on? Thank the Flying Spaghetti Monster that one of the best Bond baddies — Oddjob — is also in Goldfinger.

It also doesn’t hurt that one of the most iconic scenes in the franchise is where Goldfinger ties Bond to a table underneath a laser that begins to slowly slice the table in half.

On Her Majesty’s Secret Service:

Highly regarded among true Bond aficionados, On Her Majesty’s Secret Service is probably the most underrated James Bond movie of all time. It is also the least likely on this list to make it in the game because it’s also the most disliked due to the fact that this is the first Bond movie Sean Connery didn’t play everyone’s favorite MI6 agent. Nevertheless, this is still the perfect next-step in 007 Legends.

After the super-villain has all the money, he needs to unsettle the masses with mass hysteria. What better way to that than to brainwash 10 beauties, call them “Angels of Death”, and send them to distribute bacteriological warfare agents throughout various parts of the world.

The Spy Who Loved Me

007 Legends isn’t complete without the most legendary villain of all — Jaws. He was one of the few larger than life and iconic character in the series, that could only be matched by Oddjob. The locales of The Spy Who Loved Me were also among the best in the franchise, especially in Egypt at the pyramids. And of course, no one can forgot the battle at the end of the movie when Bond throws Jaws into a shark tank.

The Living Daylights

After an intense battle with Jaws you’ll need to relax; this is where The Living Daylights shines best. Like the movie, this mission could be all about sniping and stealth. Toss in a little detective work by trying to find out who is killing MI6 agents and leaving a note that reads “Smert Spionam” and you’ve got yourself an all-around solid mission.

Die Another Day

It’s obvious Pierce Brosnan’s best Bond film is Goldeneye, but that game has been done to death; Tomorrow Never Dies is so forgettable I don’t remember what it’s about; and The World is Not Enough is so unbelievable because not a single person, dead or alive, is convinced Denise Richards could be a nuclear physicist. That means Die Another Day wins by default, but let’s try to flesh out the story.

During the undercover espionage in The Living Daylights, Bond is captured and tortured like in Die Another Day. When traded back to MI6, he is stripped of his Double-0 status for fear that he spilled some beans and forced to continue his work as a rogue agent.

This stuff practically writes itself!

Skyfall

This one is a given since it was already announced that this movie would be featured in the game’s storyline… so there’s not much more to speculate here.

There you have it… our top 6 James Bond movies that should be featured in the 007 Legends storyline. Keep checking back with us to see how right we were when Activision releases more info about the upcoming 007 Legends.
